Winter Essentials, part one by guest blogger Marissa Collins

No matter where we are in the world, we experience winter months. It may not physically feel the same or look the same but we all get a December through March. As equestrians, we all experience winter differently as well, while some are riding beautiful rounds in warm, sunny Florida… others are experiencing snow, freezing temps and inconsistent riding.

I asked our ambassadors if we could each come up with 5-6 essentials that they really can’t live without in the winter months and here is what they had to say.

First up, is Marissa Collins who resides in Aiken, South Carolina with her horse Carino, her boyfriend and their two rescue hounds, Boba & Milo. Marissa is a dressage adult amateur who rides and shows.

OM & The Equestrian Travel Mug

I can’t start any day, especially a cold day without a warm cup of coffee or tea. When I

am on the go heading to the barn to ride or work, I love my OM & The Equestrian

Travel Mug. It is the perfect size and durable. My coffee of choice is either

‘Kickersnoodle’ from Moonbeans or ‘Rescue Roast’ from Ground & Hounds.

Catago FIR-Tech Therapy Stable Boots

I use the Catago FIR-Tech Therapy Stable Boots before and after rides as well as when

traveling. The FIR-Tech fabric contains woven ceramic fibers to reflect body heat,

increase circulation and help warm up muscles, tendon, and joints. They are perfect to

get my horse’s legs ready for work on a cold day.

Sport Horse Essentials Coat Spray

With the cold weather comes blanketing and with blankets comes static! I spray my

horse before and after a ride to help reduce static from the blankets. Not to mention it

helps keep his coat shiny. The best part is that it is made with 100% natural essential

oils but is non-greasy. I follow by using their Fly Spray as well!

Use code SHEFAM10 for 10% off! (Cannot be used on top of an already existing sale).

Purvida Roll-On Relief Liniment

Since I have an older horse who does have some arthritis, I always try to find ways to

keep him moving and feeling great, especially in the cold. I love the Purvida Roll-On

relief Liniment for so many reasons. First, it is easy to use! The easy roll-on applicator

makes it easy to apply wherever I need it quickly and it is not sticky! Also, it is 100%

natural AND drug-free, therefore I am able to use it on competition days as it is USEF

legal. Lastly, it smells amazing!

Everyday Equestrian Apparel: The Lyndy and the Georgie

In the winter I am constantly adding and removing layers of clothing, especially here in

Aiken, SC. It can be winter in the morning and almost summer by the afternoon.

Everyday Equestrian Apparel has high quality but very affordable pieces that I love. My

favorite pieces are the Lyndy vest and Georgie sweatshirt. I love layering the Lyndy over

the Georgie for ultimate warmth, but then I can also remove the Lyndy and wear just the

Georgie, or I can remove the Georgie and wear the Lyndy vest over my sun shirt. The

Lyndy also has multiple amazing pockets where I can fit my phone, gloves, treats, etc.

Also, every time I wear the Georgie even my non-horsey boyfriend always comments on

how nice the look and quality are!

Stay tuned, we will be sharing winter essentials for the next couple of weeks. Which are your favorite and what are some of your “can’t live withouts”?
