Winter Essentials, part 2 by guest blogger Rachel Wolfe

Next up is Rachel, an adult amateur and pleasure rider at a hunter barn in Pennsylvania.

As the seasons change, so do the items I use daily or weekly. This winter has looked a little different for me since I’ve only been riding about once a week. However, I’m using my favorite items to get me

through the cold days at the barn and at home. When asked what I use most during the winter, these

items easily came to mind.

1) Coat defense preventive powder. This has saved me time (and worry) when cooling out a fuzzy,

but sweaty, lesson horse. This natural and nontoxic powder not only helps dry up the sweat, it

can eliminate skin fungus, prevent chafing, and soothe allergies. I can’t recommend this enough!

2) Virtue soap company Brush Blaster. A bath bomb for your brushes! This comes in handy all year,

but winter tends to really build grim on brushes. I swear a couple of minutes soaking makes it

disappear like magic. It’s simple to use and mess free which makes it easy to use indoors when

it’s too cold to get the hose out in freezing temperatures. Bonus, the smell of this little cube is

heavenly.

3) Grey horse soy candles because what’s more cozy on those dark early mornings (or evenings)

than a warm glow? One of my favorite morning rituals is lighting a candle, doing yoga, then

making coffee before logging onto my computer to start my workday. The scents are lovely, not

overpowering, and horse themed. My favorite!

4) Smartwool socks are my go-to for chilly lessons! Although, not an equestrian brand, they make a

great tall sock that fits well under boots or chaps. Smartwool can be worn anytime of year

however I consider them one of my winter essentials!

5) OM & The Equestrian quarter zip. I’m a fan of all things soft but I don’t love hoods, so this is

perfect. It features Natashas beautiful logo and “mind body horse” on the back. A perfect item

to add to an equestrian yogis closet!
